Unique Capital - The Flash New Year's Eve Trip to Canberra, Australia
On New Year's Eve in 2024, I went to the city I had never been to when I had been staying in Australia for more than two years—Canberra, the capital city of Australia.
The unique thing is most people may think Sydney or Melbourne is the capital city of Australia, but it's Canberra. I'll mention it afterwards.
For me, being a tourist and visiting a city I've never been to naturally switches my pace and mood to travel mode, and they won't be affected by the main reason I stay in Australia.
<New Year's Eve with Travel>
I pretty much love and usually plan like this. Most people who live in Australia will organise their vacation until the first week of January (students are probably having their summer vacation during this time) because of the overlap of the New Year's Eve holiday and the Christmas vacation in Australia. Furthermore, going to other main cities in Australia usually needs to catch a flight. Therefore, I think travelling during the Christmas and New Year's Eve holidays is two for the price of one (it's more flexible to explore the city and save money for just travelling). PS. If you don't have any other needs, I recommend going by the low-cost airline (Jetstar) (regardless of whether you take the direct or transferred flights or the combination of return trips); however, this trip is unique because I just stayed for about one night.
<Itinerary Organisation>
Because of the working factors, I only planned for a one-night stay, and I suddenly thought it was a great choice (if only visiting the city area and popular attractions). I heard that Canberra only has early fireworks and no midnight fireworks. However, there's a midnight fireworks display in 2024 (it was a little happiness after purchasing the air tickets!). The midnight fireworks in 2024 will be released around Lake Burley Griffin. It's a unique experience! After staying a night in the nearby suburb, I mostly went to each spot on foot (sometimes I would take local buses - MyWay+ public transport system).
<The Introduction of The Attractions>
First, to explain the capital city! Canberra was decided by the discussions. The majority will think Sydney or Melbourne is the capital because they are the two main cities in Australia. However, why did Australia not establish a capital city in one of the cities? The reason is that the two cities competed, but there were no conclusions. Therefore, the capital city was set up between the two metropolises, Australian Capital Territory - Canberra. I went to the spots around the city, such as Lake Berley Griffin in the morning, the new and old Parliament House, the Australian War Memorial, and so forth. I suggest referring to MyWay+ when taking buses, as I mentioned previously, and downloading their app or searching their websites for more information.
1) Lake Burley Griffin: It feels like you keep walking along the path, and suddenly, a light at the end of the tunnel (like suddenly switches from the city to the natural scenery and feels fresh !). There are some buildings and trees around the lake, and I think it is where Canberra people will go when the weather is fine. Although they may go there often, I think they won't feel tired because of the excellent weather and having fun with neighbours or friends under the shade of the trees. It's chill ~~

2) New and Old Parliament House: It feels a bit like the stepped design of Tunghai University in Taichung, Taiwan. The new Parliament House is at the top, and the old Parliament House is at the bottom, according to the location. When the weather is nice, viewing the quasi-staircase landscape from the perspective of the new Parliament House is spectacular. These parliament houses have displayed, showcased, and elaborated on each crucial individual and place of parliament in Australia. It's unbelievable!

3) Australian War Memorial: To commemorate the people of the British Armies and Support Agencies who were involved in the Australian War (https://zh.wikipedia.org/zh-tw/%E6%BE%B3%E6%B4%B2%E6%88%B0%E7%88%AD%E7%B4%80%E5%BF%B5%E9%A4%A8).

I'm pretty happy! I felt like I was escaping from reality. Plus, specifically cool when going to places I've never been to (suddenly feels apologised to Brisbane; although my nervous mood was more than curiosity and freshness when I first arrived, I gradually had a familiarity with it.) ~ I realise it's indeed understandable deciding Canberra as a capital city of Australia! All kinds of buildings have gathered together to record past and current achievements.
Australia is large, and the mind will change when visiting places with different people. Previously, I might have been fond of the happiness of being created by travelling. Still, now I may prefer deciding to comprehend and explore myself regardless of doing what kinds of things. This determination will make me adjust from joy to bliss, which I cannot undoubtedly eliminate.
